She was choked by a swarm of bees at the farmer’s market, it was so intense that her entourage of three had to run away and now the battle is all about saving her life.
FOX’s Ashley Papa reports in this week’s “FOX Country”:
I’m Ashley Papa.
Bees are causing a whole lot of fuss in Dubuque, Iowa, after biting someone in the eye.
(Harrison) “This was terrible.”
18-year-old Hayley Harrison and her three friends were attending a farmers market at downtown Dubuque on Sunday and she says their Beekeeper spoke up and warned them of the problem.
(Harrison) “He says, ‘Don’t touch them.’ And I remember saying ‘but they’re there, there’s bees, I’m going to touch them.’ And he said ‘oh, be safe,'” says Hayley.
Hayley wasn’t so careful. She says one of her friends saw bees in the stands and from afar, she was stabbed. But, Hayley’s father Calvin Harrison was a little safer than his daughter.
(Harrison) “I ran with her to the nearest place with a golf cart. And the next thing we know we heard sirens.”
Minutes later, the ambulance was at their door, their sports car belonged to someone else, their rental car was gone, as it happened around 11:00 am Sunday, and Hayley’s ear was badly stung. In an instant the fight was on and family and friends managed to do what they could to save Hayley’s life.
