Go fly a drone with your pooch — now

By now, most of us have heard of fido-toting drones, but now there’s a new way to have man’s best friend speak with you.

Drone maker Kitty Hawk recently debuted a new artificial intelligence technology that enables your dog to interact with you through audio, video and messaging.

“It uses an artificial intelligence system to create a mesh where our dogs react,” Jetwire CEO and founder Peter Zimroth told ABC News. “They look down. They see you and they know they’re with their person.”

The DogSpeak app, which isn’t for sale, allows users to allow their dogs to send messages or video calls directly to their owners.

It’s designed to work on all breeds of dogs.

“Most importantly it doesn’t require any prior training, so if you’re bringing a new pup home the first time you can just connect and play,” Kitty Hawk co-founder Jason Edwards told ABC News.

You can’t tell when your dog is at home by listening to the drone-like noises their hear when they get out of the bag, but they will respond when they hear the owner’s voice, Edwards said.

“When dogs hear an owner, they want to hear their voice, but they also know that’s scary and that’s why they look down,” Edwards said.

Here’s how it works:

Once you have downloaded the app, open it up to your phone and play with it.

When you notice your dog barking, lifting their tail or doing something else that makes a sound you recognize, say your dog’s name and it will come to you.

If you’re willing to take the plunge, your dog’s digital toy will start making barking or jumping noises. And if you see their head, it tells you to just look at the message.

“Our dogs are social animals,” Zimroth said. “We know they will pick up a match and start barking, and that’s a very human response, so even if I have a device in my pocket I want to want to pick up my dog and say, ‘hey, what’s up buddy,’ because I want to know about my dog.”

How can you find out what your dog is saying? Just watch it.
