Gifts that don’t have to break the bank

Being the age that we are, i.e. our constantly connected generation, we’re constantly bombarded with technology that claims to make life so much easier. Whether its creating little robots to wash our dishes or ordering our next dinner from the convenience of our smart phones, people have become accustomed to technology that can seem to change our lives on the fly. However, there is one thing tech gifts give us that’s harder to buy than the gadgets themselves.

1. People have a hard time letting go of old friends and important family and friends that have passed on

When we lose someone close, getting a gift just doesn’t mean enough. As one expert says, “it’s kind of like filling a rubber band, the shorter the friendship the harder it is to lose that long standing friendship.” It’s even harder when you and the person you lost the most have already become similar in some ways, and you are ready to move on to the next phase of your life. Whether you lost a spouse, parents, boss, or big sister, finding a way to buy a gift that shows your appreciation isn’t something you think you can do in a card, or an email. In many cases, you will feel the need to reach out to someone to say your thanks. So the thought of shopping for a gift for somebody you cannot hold a conversation with seems overwhelming.

However, there are great gift ideas out there for everyone. And yes, you do need to go out and hunt down the best gift ideas this holiday season. With my experience of working at a gift and magazine website where I received dozens of gift suggestions each year, I have come up with the top tech gifts that will last longer than the phone or the car you paid hundreds of dollars for on Black Friday.
